Eddie Sherlin

EddieEddie Sherlin loved basketball from the first day he saw his uncle play in a local game. And the enthusiasm grew into passion for both the sports of basketball and baseball.

Eddie moved with his parents, older brother and his two sisters to Gallatin, Tennessee, when he was 10 years old. An athletic star at Gallatin High, in both baseball and basketball, Eddie championed the school to the district finals in 1970.  It truly represented the culmination of a phenomenal high school sports career and the moment of truth for a boyhood friendship.

Eddie followed his dream and played minor league baseball after high school for both the Pittsburg Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds.

In 1975, Eddie returned to Gallatin. He garnered an Associate Degree at Volunteer State Community College and a Bachelor Degree from Middle Tennessee State University, all while holding coaching positions at the schools.

Eddie accepted a coaching job at Cleveland State Community College in Cleveland, Tennessee, after graduation. Eventually, Eddie found his way back to Gallatin and pursued a career in business. In 2001, he started his own construction business and soon added the pro golf tour to his sports resume.

Eddie currently is a basketball coach at Gallatin High School, and runs a basketball clinic.

Named a National Merit Scholarship Program finalist in high school, Bill was accepted to Princeton, but instead accepted a full athletic scholarship to Vanderbilt University.

Ligon took his talent to the court and was honored as Co-Most Valuable Player his Freshman year in college and was later named to the All-Sophomore Team. Bill’s athletic skill garnered draft invitations from both the ABA and NBA, and he went on to play a season with the Detroit Pistons.

But Vanderbilt Law school proved to be the true calling, where Bill also served as Graduate-Student Assistant Basketball Coach. After passing the Tennessee Bar, Bill went into private law practice with a concentration in Criminal Defense and Litigation.
